Sensus includes all of the solutions in the vehicle related to entertainment, Internet connection and navigation, and serves as the user interface between the driver and the vehicle. Sensus is what makes communication between you, the vehicle and the world around you possible. Note: The In-car apps require an Internet connection. You can use the car modem or your personal hotspot.


Glympse


Glympse is a fast, free, and simple way to share your location in real time with the people you trust. Unlike other location-based services there's no need to create an account; no need for login or password hassles. Glympse uses the GPS capability in your car to let you share your location via a Web-based map for a pre-set period of time with anyone you choose. Glympse answers the question of 'Where are you?' with a map that updates your whereabouts in real-time. Sharing your location with someone else is referred to as 'sending a Glympse.' You will need to know either the cell (smartphone) phone number or email address of the recipient you are sending the Glympse to.

Once you choose your recipient, a Glympse goes out as a link via text message or email (whichever you choose), the recipients then click on the Glympse link where they can view your real-time travel progress on a map for as long as you chose. Only the people that you choose to send a Glympse to will see your location. You can also expire or modify your Glympse at any time. Set a duration, pick a destination, choose the recipients and hit send! Glympse will take care of the rest.



Local Search


Local Search is a free app that enables the driver to find restaurants, hotels and more based on their current location. Local Search provides Internet-based connected services to provide seamless navigation to drivers. You can select to either browse places by category or select to search using text. Local Search is now powered by Google.


Note: There must be an Internet connection to use Local Search.


Pandora

Pandora is a free in-car app; with the option to upgrade for a fee; that lets you listen to personalized stations based on your favorite artist, genre and songs. To be able to use Pandora, you will first need a Pandora account. If you do not already have an account you can create one through Pandora.com or by downloading the Pandora app on your mobile phone.


You can create stations through:

  • The currently playing song/artist
  • Browsing Genres
  • Free text searching of database on track titles, artists, genres


The app also lets you control these features from the steering wheel controls:

  • Personalize stations, book marking, starting song/artist stations
  • Go back to main menu while in a song
  • Skip to the next song

Free Pandora accounts permit 6 skipped songs per hour, per station. A skip is considered to be a 'thumbs-down' rating, telling Pandora that you do not like that track.


Other features include:

  • Instantly start playback of selected artist, song and genre without downloading to the car
  • Supports the ability for you to bookmark a “now-playing” song for future reference
  • Ability to enable/disable profanity in the content of Pandora stations
  • Thumbs up or Thumbs down tells Pandora if you like or dislike the track playing to further personalize your listening experience

Clicking 'thumbs-up' tells Pandora that you like the track you're listening to, bringing in more tracks like it to your station. Clicking 'thumbs-down' lets Pandora know that you do not like to hear that track again. Skipping a song is considered by Pandora to be a 'thumbs-down' rating. Press 1 on the keypad for 'thumbs-up' and press 3 on the keypad for 'thumbs-down.'

Park and Pay

Park and Pay is free app which finds parking garages and lots for you near your location. This service works in locations which are supported by Park and Pay. These locations are displayed in the app with an icon in list view, and information for each parking space. This also includes information on parking identification and payment.

If you want to be able to pay for your parking via the app, you need to register the payment provider applicable to the selected parking space through their website.


Note: The 'pay' function is currently not available through the car.


Record & Send

Use this app to take voice notes while you are driving and then select up to 3 email addresses to send them to. Whether it is to remind yourself of the groceries you are thinking you need to purchase or note from a conversation with a client you had through your Bluetooth system Record and Send can take down the information.


Spotify

Spotify has millions of songs available which allows you to search and play the music you want to hear, find the latest new hits, and create your own library. Simply create anaccount and log in with your credentials and you will have all of your library info as you would through another device. There are 3 bit rates that can be selected; Normal, High, and Excellent. We recommend you select either Normal or High.


TuneIn

TuneIn is a free app that offers over 100,000 live radio stations; whether you want to hear music, sports, news or current events; and over 4 million on-demand programs; from podcasts to interviews; for you to enjoy.For a fee, you can subscribe to TuneIn Radio which allows you to record, pause and rewind anything heard through TuneIn.

Weather

Weather is a free app that gives you daily and weekly weather forecasts directly in your car based on your location. With Weather, you set the location for which you want updated weather in the app settings. These settings can be accessed by pressing OK in the display mode for the app. You can also change settings for measuring wind speed. In addition, you can see the weather for various locations by using the Search function.

WikiLocations


WikiLocations is a free app that enables you to find and read Wikipedia articles relevant to your Volvo's current position. It may encourage you to explore your surroundings after reading about places of interest like historical buildings. WikiLocations also gives you access to Wikipedia-based content, which allows you to view articles, images and summaries relating to your Volvo's position and destination.


Note: Only Wikipedia articles with a geographic tag can be viewed in the app.


Yelp

Yelp was developed to help people find the best local businesses like doctors, hair salons, mechanics, restaurants, parks and museums, etc. In addition to seeing the number of reviews and accessing reviews, you can use Yelp to find events and chat with other 'Yelpers'. Yelp uses automated software to recommend the most helpful and reliable reviews for users. The software looks at different criteria including measures of quality, reliability and activity on Yelp. There is no account needed to search and view reviews but if you choose to provide a review of your own, you must set up a free account. Yelp also provides the ability to reserve a table at a restaurant directly through the app.
